Part of Indianapolis's historic love affair with auto racing, Motor Speedway Hall Of Fame offers up-close views of legendary cars, driven by such greats as A.J Foyt Jr., Richard Petty and Mauri Rose. Displaying 75 cars at a time on a rotating basis, the museum showcases Indy 500 winners, pace cars and other historic automobiles dating back to 1905. Also featured is an Indianapolis 500 picture wall, displaying portraits of every Indy 500 winner from 1911 to present. The museum, which includes an auto racing theater, 30,000 square feet of exhibit space, concessions and two gift shops, is located on the grounds of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, five miles northwest of downtown.
